EDARAN TAN CHONG MOTOR SCORES A FIRST BY COMBINING CRM AND CSR ACTIVITIES IN THE NISSAN TREASURE HUNT 2011 SERIES

Kuala Lumpur, 7th July 2011 - Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) embarked into new territory last weekend during their Central Region Nissan Treasure Hunt 2011, by combining their treasure hunt, a Customer Relation Management (CRM) activity, with its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activity.

Participants taking part in the 6-hour treasure hunt became willing participants in Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd’s CSR programme by picking up goodie bags filled with food and nutritious items from their Edaran Tan Chong Serdang Raya branch as a ‘treasure’, and delivering these to the Rumah Sejahtera Seri Kembangan, an old folk’s home with 17 inmates, mostly over the age of 70 and managed through funds obtained from the public.

Speaking at the Hi Tea function held at the end of the hunt at the famous and luxurious Sepang Golden Palm Tree resort in Sepang, Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd, said, “This is the twelfth year that we have been doing the Nissan Treasure Hunt, and we thought that it would be a great idea in combining our CRM activity with that of our CSR activity, into one.”

The Central Region Nissan Treasure Hunt covered a total of 134 kilometres. Starting from the Edaran Tan Chong 3S centre in Jalan Kemajuan, 47 cars, including 5 cars from the media, made their way to Bangsar, where the first of 30 tantalizing clues were waiting to be answered. The teams then made their way through to Sri Hartamas, then Wangsa Maju before having to make a stop at Zoo Negara.

At the zoo, participants had to go in to check out the Milky Stork, an endangered species that has been adopted by the Tan Chong Holdings Group of companies, also as part of the company’s CSR programme. After exiting from the zoo, participants had to pick up another “treasure”, from ETCM Serdang Raya branch to be dropped off together with other items at the old folks home nearby.

The overall winner of this Nissan Treasure hunt was the ‘Cunning Linguist’ team led by Danial Ariff, with a score of 88 out of a possible 100 points, followed by “Space Pirates” led by Venkateswaran with a score of 81 points. Third position went to the team of ‘Ultraman Vs Nissan’ led by Asri Ali, who amazingly came for the event in crutches as a result of a torn ligament. In the media category, first place honours went to the team of Chin Shong Chian, Chan Wai Yih, Bosco Lim Zhao Jen, Kon Wai Luen.

The Nissan Treasure Hunt series which started in 1999 is one of the key events in the Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd CRM calendar. It is one of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd’s many ways of giving back some benefits to its customers for their loyalty and support. This support goes both ways, as evidenced by a quote from one of the many happy customers, “I make sure that every new car I buy must be a Nissan, because I enjoy the Nissan Treasure Hunts,” and another observation was, “Edaran Tan Chong Motor is one of the few car companies who take care of its customers.”

The next event shall be held on 9th July 2011 at Johor Bahru for the Southern Region customers.
