Large rise in entries confirms series’ growth
With grid and calendar expanded to Japan and to Singapore

xxx, February 2012- The 2012 Ferrari Corse Clienti season makes its official debut at Suzuka on March 18th next with the inaugural round of the Asia-Pacific series which also plays host to the first Ferrari Racing Days event of the year. Spectators at Suzuka will also have the unique opportunity to watch Maranello’s main non-competitive activities, including the exclusive XX and F1 Clienti programmes, showcased on the track in the course of the day.

The APAC series is spread over five stages taking place in Japan, China, Malaysia and Singapore. The sixth leg takes place in Europe, specifically at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali where the protagonists from all divisions of the three single-make series (APAC, Europe and North America) will compete for the world title.

The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli APAC calendar opens in Japan, a nation to which Maranello remains deeply committed, a fact attested to in its many fund-raising activities for the victims of last year’s earthquake. The events planned for this year include two rounds at the Shanghai circuit (29th April and 10th June), the last of which will also play host to a second Ferrari Racing Day for local clients. Following Shanghai will be the fourth racing in Malaysia on 31st August. The calendar is completed by a new event at the Singapore circuit (23rd September) in which the drivers taking part in the famous single-make series will open the fifth edition of the eponymous Grand Prix and compete on the same track as the F1 cars.

The success of the series, which debuted in 2011 with the aim of offering local clients the thrill of the track, is clear from the burgeoning number of entrants: more than 25 458 Challenges are expected for the inaugural round at Suzuka. The field is a good mix of both gentlemen drivers and those with a certain amount of track experience and thus capable of delivering a very high standard racing right to the line.
