Volkswagen Group Malaysia supports AGS Charity Bazaar

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 November 2011– Volkswagen Group Malaysia today added another charitable cause to its corporate social responsibility platform when it threw its support behind the AGS Charity Bazaar held at Carcosa Seri Negara this morning, taking on the role of the event’s main corporate sponsor.
The bazaar, which was co-organised and co-sponsored by the embassies of Austria, Germany and Switzerland, attracted more than 1,000 visitors in its opening hours between 11am and 3pm, mainly from the expatriate communities, besides a significant number of local visitors.
Visitors were also able to feast their eyes on Volkswagen vehicles.
Volkswagen Group Malaysia managing director Mr Ricky Tay said the contribution from the company was in line with its policy as a responsible and concerned corporate citizen.
“The brand has many initiatives when it comes to sustainability. In this instance, the upcoming festive season is an ideal time to give to the less fortunate, and we are pleased to be doing our part for charity and to address their needs,” he said.
Proceeds from the AGS Charity Bazaar will be channelled to several Malaysian charities such as Generating Opportunities for the Learning Disables (GOLD), Breast Cancer Welfare Association, Spastic Children Association, Bangsa Ria Association for the Disabled Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Women´s Aid Organisation (WAO), Young to Adult (Y2A / former YKPM) and the Rumah Wanita Cacat Asrama Cahaya IJ Convent Bukit Nanas.
These charities were given a stall each at the Bazaar to represent themselves and sell their own handicraft.The AGS Charity Event was first established in 1986 and has grown into a grand and annual event.

Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd was incorporated with the Malaysian Registrar of Companies (ROC) in December 2005 and launched its corporate headquarters at Wisma UOA Bangsar in February 2006.
