D’Silva Confirmed for GT4 Asia Cup Season

Malaysian driver Adrian Henry D’Silva has confirmed his participation for the 2010 season of the newly introduced GT4 Asia Cup.
The Series is part of an agreement between the SRO Motorsports Group and Motorsport Asia that sees the extension of the rapidly expanding GT4 category to Asia, joining the GT4 European Cup and its franchise, the Dutch GT4 Championship.
D’Silva will be up against some of the most talented GT racers from around the region competing at some of the best circuits in Asia.
The 44 year old Managing Director of a shipping company is only in his fifth year of professional racing. He began with the local one make Series JPM Integra Cup where he competed for two years before signing on to do the Asian Touring Car Series in 2008-2009, finishing third in the Series last year.
The move to the GT4 Asia Cup is a natural step up the racing ranks for D’Silva, “I have already completed 2 seasons with ATCS and thought I should experiment with other forms of races. GT4 is the next obvious progression from Touring Cars”.
D’Silva expects some great competition amongst the drivers in the Series and the Kuala Lumpur based driver will compete with Nexus Racing in an Aston Martin N24.
As for his preparation in between seasons, D’Silva says “The workouts took a break like the racing. My workouts this time will be more focused on stamina as the GT4 races are longer, with 40 minutes of racing. Mental preparation and readiness comes together with fitness.
“This is the first season with new drivers, new cars and new circuits. Drivers, organisers, team members, supporters etc will have a lot of expectations. I hope at the end of the season everyone's expectations are met, which means the series has been successful. I would like to look back one day to know that I raced in the pioneer season of a successful racing series” he concluded.
The GT4 Asia Cup will be contested over 12 rounds of racing beginning with the Asian Festival Of Speed at Sepang International Circuit on 14-16 May 2010.
About GT4
SRO introduced GT4 in 2007 with the objective of encouraging Manufacturers, constructors or tuners to prepare cars for large production GT racing. This objective was met and the category has been growing in popularity ever since, with more and more Manufacturers introducing GT4 eligible cars. In addition, the Supersport category (for cars under 100kgs) was introduced as an access formula for smaller Manufacturers.
SRO have implemented a method of performance balancing to provide a level and competitive playing field amongst all the different makes to ensure close and exciting racing. Additionally, the GT4 Regulations provide a highly cost effective platform, with limited modifications allowed.
