THE 33RD BANGKOK INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW 2012

Challenger Hall, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani to be site of bigger, better show with plenty of new vehicle launches to drool at and really stood out from other car shows in the country.

BANGKOK, 27 January 2012--- The 33rd edition of the Bangkok International Motor Show that showcased concept, hybrid and low emission vehicles as well as various new car launches, will come to Thailand for its second year of running at the Challenger Halls, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. This new experience will be very different from previous years show.

Grand Prix International Group, the organisers of the Bangkok International Motor Show realises the significance of the Show to the automotive industry which is trying to recover its footing having been badly effected by the Tsunami in Japan and the floods in Thailand. Encouraged by the success of staging the event in a new venue the previous year, GPI Group is revving up the momentum of activities of the upcoming event which is lest than two months time.

Last year’s event was an overwhelming success in the history of the Show. Driven by that BIMS’ preparation has already begun in earnest, the show which will be held in less than a couple of months will present known automotive brand-names in the automotive industry in the likes of BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Lexus, Lotus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Mitsuoka, Nissan, Peugeot, Rolls-Royce, SsangYong, Suzuki, Thairung, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. Apart from the brands that were participating last year, BIMS 2012 will also be presenting a range of new participating brand-names that will present their range of cars like, Rolls Royce in the same exhibition area with the exception of Proton which is skipping this event in lieu of the Motor Expo citing lack of support from parent company.

Proton has decided to skip this major event which is subscribed to OICA citing lack of new models to showcase and lack of sufficient budget to run according to the distributor and also parent Proton has not assist to participate in BIMS.

From the motorcycle ranks will feature Big Bull, BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Modern Bike, Stallions, Suzuki, UDA, Vespa and Yamaha. 2012 is set to be a great year for new bikes and the BIMS is where you’ll be able to throw a leg over the latest and greatest. From bling cruisers to the latest hi-tec sportsbikes, there’s something for everyone here. Both Ducati and Harley-Davidson will be new this year to us.

Organisers are also preparing a special area for visitors who want to do a test drive, not only that during the exhibition visitors will also be pampered by a variety of other exciting events such as music corner, automotive auction, photography competition, a variety of automotive-themed talk show, and certainly will be interesting to follow is the selection of Miss Motor Show which will be conducted differently this time around.

Last year’s show featured 20 of the leading automotive brands and between them more than 1,000 test drives were taken during the event by enthusiastic show visitors. Organisers will also be looking to reinstate the sort of activities that gave last year’s event such a ‘festival’ atmosphere. The Show continues to show signs of healthy growth and popularity with a roster that promises not only to expand over last years 20 car companies but also to showcase top models. With more companies, we are able to have more events, making the activities tighter in each hour.

Everyone would have witness the automotive scene whether it’s the concept car or the production car from Japan, Europe, America, Korea and China that presented technology of the present right up to the future, which actually signifies that the automotive industry of Thailand is still relevant in the automotive world, which also signifies the importance the Motor Show in Thailand in the world stage.

President of Grand Prix International and Chairman of the organizing committee, Dr Prachin Eamlumnow said, “My working team and me would inspire to present this show to be a success, which is not as easy as thought in the present economic situation, everyone in the car, motorcycle and the parts industry needs to combine to elevate the Thai automotive industry to be one of the main industry of the country for the future. Until the present, I’m confident that this 33rd Bangkok International Motor Show will endeavour to overturn the fortunes of the Thai automotive industry again and be the gauge of the Thai economy.”

Apart from the show cars, Mitsubishi Motor and Suzuki are expected to launch the eco-cars at the event. Hyundai from Korea will launching their latest model, the Elantra too.
