Volkswagen wins 11 more awards

Recognised for offering fuel efficient vehicles to Malaysians

Kuala Lumpur, 13 January 2012- Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM), a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, has won 11 awards from the motoring media this year, spearheaded by the brand’s focus on fuel consumption.

The 11 awards were presented during the Asian Auto Ambank Fuel Efficiency Awards 2011 and the Shell V-Power Autoworld Car of the Year 2011 Awards which took place this earlier this month.

The Asian Auto Ambank Fuel Efficiency Awards awarded Volkswagen with 7 awards for vehicles that were fuel efficient.

It is recognition that Malaysians and the market have accepted Volkswagen’s fuel efficient technologies, as part of a roadmap to achieve environmental protection.

Up against some of the industry greats, the Volkswagen cars were singled out for its TSI and DSG technologies that were at the forefront of its fuel efficient qualities.

TSI and DSG is part of Volkswagen’s ‘downsizing’ strategy and is a combination of engine and gearbox that is aimed at reducing consumption and emissions, without compromising on driving fun.

These technologies are offered in all Volkswagen products in Malaysia.

Additionally, the Volkswagen Polo GTI 1.4TSI was singled out as a favourite at the Shell V-Power Autoworld Car of the Year Awards 2011 on Tuesday night.

VGM Managing Director Mr. Ricky Tay said the board of directors and the VGM team is once again elated with the achievement, especially when the brand saw a significant growth for 2011.

“We would like to thank the motoring media for these awards as it gives us recognition for the work that we have done on our products and showcases the quality of our vehicles.
